Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
- Manuscripts under consideration by another journal or publisher should not be submitted.
- Submissions must be uploaded through the official JPIU online portal https://jpiu.bipsu.edu.ph/index.php/home/user/register or sent via email to jpiu@bipsu.edu.ph, accompanied by a formal cover letter.
- A separate title page must include the manuscript title, full names of all authors, institutional affiliations, email addresses, contact numbers, and ORCID iDs. Changes in authorship after acceptance are not permitted.
- A declaration of author contribution order and roles is required for multi-author submissions.
Manuscript Formatting Guidelines
Authors submitting to the Journal of Philippine Island Universities (JPIU) must adhere to the following formatting standards:
- File Format
- Submit manuscripts in editable Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). PDF files will not be accepted.
- You may download the JPIU Article Format template here.
- Layout
- Use a single-column layout with continuous line numbering throughout the manuscript to facilitate review.
- Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts should be organized in the following order:
- Title
- Authors (include corresponding author with ORCID iD when applicable)
- Abstract (max. 250 words)
- Keywords (3–6)
- Introduction
- Materials and Methods/Methodology
- Results and Discussion
- Conclusion
- References
- Declarations (see section below)
- Author Contributions
- Acknowledgments
- Declarations Section
The “Declarations” section must include, where applicable:
- Author Contributions
- Funding Statement
- Data Availability Statement
- AI Use Disclosure
- Acknowledgments
CRediT authorship contribution statement
- Author 1: Writing – original draft, Resources, Financial Administration, Methodology, Formal analysis, Data curation, Conceptualization
- Author 2: Data Collection, Writing – review & editing.
- Word Count
- Manuscripts must be between 4,000 to 6,000 words, inclusive of all main text sections (excluding tables, figures, and references).
- Tables and Figures
- Tables must be provided as editable text, not as images.
- Include concise titles, appropriate footnotes, and units of measurement.
- Figures should be of high resolution (300 dpi minimum) and submitted in separate image files (.jpg, .png, or .tif).
- Figure captions must be placed below the figure, while table captions are placed above.
- Units and Equations
- Use SI units consistently throughout the manuscript.
- Equations must be editable (e.g., using MS Word Equation Editor) and numbered consecutively (e.g., Eq. 1, Eq. 2).
- References
- Follow the latest APA style (7th edition).
- Include DOIs or URLs where available.
